Sample Poem

If I Were Me

Instead of working all weekendI would awaken slowly
Allow my cat an extra half hour on my shoulder
While I stroke the short hair on her neck with my nose
Spread fingers over 800 count Egyptian cottonPoint toes into feathery pink slippers
Slip out of butterfly silk kimono
Step into chin high lavender bubble bathBuff, manicure, pedicure
Dress in casual red velourInhale new morning
Tilt face to sunSing "Hi, Ho!"With force of Valkyrie
Click heelsSashay about town
Stop at farmer's market
Squeeze peaches and plums
Smile at handsome men
Lunch at Dish with friend
Sip frozen strawberry daiquiri
Drive to local art museum
Reacquaint with Degas and Renoir
Sketch versions of their bathing scenes
Dine at Huntington in Diane von Furstenberg
Waltz, disco, sambaHold hands
Kiss tenderlyIf only I were me
How delightful I would be
